Nuggets of Information
- Even though it is the dog days of summer and the Phillies are trying to make a run at the wild card, some interesting stories turned up in the Philadelphia Daily News and the Sporting News concerning the Sixers and Flyers.
- The Flyers' color commentator, Gary Dornhoefer, is leaving the TV booth. Dornhoefer simply said "It's time," refering to his leaving. He will be replaced in the booth by Keith Jones, who will also continue his job on the WIP morning show. Dornhoefer has been in the booth for 12 year. I am sad to see him go. I thought he always did a good job of describing hockey for the average fan who may not know all the rules or strategies. Hopefully Jones follows his lead and makes the game interesting for the average fan.
- The Sixers are again refuting rumors that they have put a $500 million dollar price tag on the team. They have though hired a Wall Street firm to review any offers should they receive them. It seems like Comcast-Spectacor is moving in the direction of selling the Sixers though it appears to be in the infant stages.
- Lastly, the Sporting News is reporting that Billy King may still be trying to trade AI despite his public comments to the contrary. Sporting News reports that he is trying to do it privately and there could still be a trade in the next month.
