The Time Is Now

After losing two of three to the best team in the National League, the Mets, the Phillies embark on their last month of the season. The Phillies do not face another team with a winning record the rest of the year. The Phillies remain 1.5 games out of the wildvcard race behind the Cincinnati Reds. The Phillies are prime for a wild card win after acquiring Jeff Conine from the Baltimore Orioles yesterday. The Phillies have solidified their team by trading for Jamie Moyer, Jose Hernandez, and Conine. Conine will add a veteren playoff with playoff experience to the bench will also spelling Delluci and Burrell. Moyer has solidified the rotation even with today's subpar outing. He is another great veteren who rounds out the staff nicely. Ryan Howard continues to dominate NL pitchers, hitting his 47th home run and 122nd RBI of the season. Howard is deserving of the MVP but the Phillies may have to make the playoffs to win the award, but his numbers are better than anyone elses. Jimmy Rollins and Shane Victorino have provided a sparkplug at the top of the lineup. Chase Utley has been terrific this year for the Phillies but has struggled recently, but should get back on track.

This is not to say winning the wild card will be easy but it is possible. The Phillies are still chasing the Reds and many teams are still in the running. If the Phillies can get hot they have a chance of pulling away but more possible is that the race goes down to the final days. The Phillies have a better offense, and their pitching is comparable to the other contenders so hopefully the Phils can get the job done and bring October baseball back to Philly this year.

Tomorrow's Game- Brett Myers coming off a great outing against the Cubbies takes the mound and will be opposed by Tony Armas Jr. This is the final three games of the road trip before the Phillies return on the weekend. From here on out the Phillies need to win every series they play in and the occasional sweep would be nice. Gametime is 7:05. Lets Go Phils.
